Raatihuoneenkatu 48

The museum, which is run by the Kaskinen Local Museum Society, was opened in its present form in 1984. It is located in a wooden residence erected in the mid-nineteenth century by shipowner, factory owner and trader Carl Daniel Rehnström. Most of the rooms show the life of a middle-class family in the mid-eighteen hundreds. The museum aims to relate various aspects of the history of Kaskinen. Thus, the museum also includes the interior of a fisherman%27s cottage, a school exhibition (a classroom) and a ship- broker%27s office COLLECTIONS The museum has a permanent exhibition of textiles. There is also a large collection of hats and outfits that once belonged to middle-class families in Kaskinen. Among the exhibits is a silk wedding dress dating from 1822. The museum holds several rarities that once belonged to the founder of Kaskinen, Petter Johan Bladh (1746-1816) and his family. On display are objects such as silk sheets, silk garters and a silk wallet.
